NAVY YARD STROLL
A leisurely tour of parts of the historic Philadelphia Navy Yard. Alliance guide and former Navy ensign Rick Linder was stationed at the Navy Yard in the 1960’s. In addition to history of the buildings, Rick will share his knowledge about the ships and how a naval yard works. The Philadelphia Naval Shipyard is the oldest naval shipyard in the country, dating to 1776 when the Continental Congress leased land for the fledgling Navy. The Shipyard was moved to its current location about the time of the Civil War. In 1995, most of the Navy Yard was closed and the area has since become a thriving business campus, with over 140 businesses including the corporate headquarters of Urban Outfitters.

Meet at the Guard House at the Broad Street Gate, League Island Blvd and Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19112 (map).

Free for children 10 and under accompanied by an adult.

Space is limited. Advance registration strongly recommended.
