In With The Old 2022

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday December 8

6:30 PM  –  8:30 PM

The Young Friends of the Preservation Alliance is thrilled to announce the 2022 edition of our In With The Old event, where we come together to celebrate historic preservation in the Philadelphia region. This year, we are celebrating a bit later than usual, because we’ll be celebrating in the beautiful Oaks Cloister in Germantown, freshly decorated for the holiday season.

Called “splendiferous” by Philadelphia Magazine, the house was built and designed for architect Joseph Miller Huston, the architect of the Pennsylvania State Capital. Beginning in 2002, the current owners embarked on a painstaking restoration, bringing the mansion back to its former glory after nearly a decade of neglect. Attendees will get to see the hand-carved fireplace from Caen, France, a gilded coffered ceiling which required 35,000 sheets of gold leaf to restore and a once-thought lost George Grey Barnard sculpture - and that’s just the ballroom!

We invite friends of the Preservation Alliance of all ages to this rare opportunity to tour this one of a kind structure, which remains to this day a private residence. Join us on Thursday, December 8th for drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and camaraderie with fellow preservationists amidst the home’s sparkling beauty.
